Things I love...Friday

Good news is I got into Uni! I worked so hard for weeks..more like months and the stress has totally been taken off my shoulders now. This has lead to a more relaxed approach to work and actually spending time outside of my house in the evenings.
♥Seeing my Best Friend
Because of the work load over the past few months and my best friend Carina having full-time work at a restaurant (meaning mostly evening shifts) we have only been meeting up once a month or so which really sucks when she only lives round the corner. With my work load decreasing and Carina having time off, its been great to just hang out with my bestie. Even if it does lead to cackling on a bench in Hove!

Topshop Autumn Collection

The photos and more info come courteous of Style Bubble, definitely check it out!
All these items I love! And would love to have in my wardrobe. I'll be keeping my peepers pealed for these bebes!
College
Today its not going amazing. My energy levels are low and Im just in the mood for an adventure. You know? Something that will actually get my creative juices flowing rather than sitting in a quiet studio space. First day back and its not going so well! Being here actually makes me not want to work which is odd as its the place TO work. Hopefully it will get better tomorow and I wont end up here sitting at the computer screen in the libary reading blogs in order to get me excited (in an art way).

Things I love Thursday...Only a bit Later!
Ooops! Its TILT just running a little later! Ive been so busy over the past few days that I have had no time to spare, the crazy thing is, my time wasn't spent doing work for once...although going to V&A could count as research I guess.. Anyway! Lets go!:
♥My Art Interview
This was a big hurdle for me and had taken months of preparing, improving and tweaking work non-stop. This Thursday all my hard work was put to the test on Thursday, when I was interviewed for a Fashion Promotion and Imaging course (yes it is as fab as it sounds!). I was interviewed by a lovely woman who was so friendly which helped with all the nerves (she had a cute outfit to boot!It was very Zooey Deschanel), plus I got talking to some really nice girls! Overall I think I did well and I no longer have that stress! Success!
♥London Culture
Friday was a trip to the Capital as a bit of a celebration of the above. Originally we were to go to Harrods to eat Macaroons, a la Marie Antoinette (which is still in the idea works), but instead we made the smart move...to culture! The V&A was the first on our adventure. For those who may not know, the museum features lots of historical pieces and artifacts from other cultures. To me the most interesting however was the fashion section and in particular the following items:
♥ Tracy Emin Bag
♥ Vivienne Westwood Gown
♥ 2005 Chloe Dress (not so suitable for my frame)
♥ And the majority of the Parisian designed gowns
Overall the most beautiful features of the garments was the intricate details, small areas of embroidery, and the importance that the outfits placed on fitting the body. Its such a change from what we see now, where 'fast' fashion shops are in the majority when compared against that of tailors, we don't save up for months for one item of clothing and to show it more simply the comparison between a juicy couture tracksuit to that of a Victorian gown (this is in fact encased at the museum). Its sad really as I feel it would be amazing to dress your best everyday and flatter your figure by buying fitted clothing. I have a feeling that this would be a fab and enjoyable challenge as part of iCiNG Transformation Challenge.
We then went on to visit the National History Museum, where I was taught the facts on each dinosaur by my lovely Boyfriend, who just happens to have a thing for the prehistoric creature (can they be called this?..he would know). It was super interesting and so nice to share something that means allot to him.
Next was Oxford Circus. We popped into a few shops. What I saw of the Topshop summer collection was very desirable, H&M's Marimekko collection has still yet to impress me and from the advertisements on the tube and the window dressing of the store, I still don't get Uniqlo (as in I dont know why its been so raved about :s). That was pretty much the info on the day! And it was Super!
♥Sundance Film Festival
I have just realised that allot of the films I have enjoyed recently have been highly commended at this film festival. Last night I watched 'Garden State' with Zach Braff and Natalie Portman, and it was surprisingly enlightening. Slow to start but with a beautiful ending that left me in tears. It was one of the Sundance films as well as another of my favourites 'Little Miss Sunshine'. Here's a link to some of the favourites from this years festival (The picture from 'Phoebe in Wonderland' looks stunning). I'm hoping to watch some more soon!
♥Reading
I'm really up for it at the moment! I'm looking into inspirational reading with meaning, or true stories of adventure. I picked up 'The Diving-Bell and the Butterfly' today and so good so far that I'm looking forward to watching the film when it comes out on DVD soon
♥Honorable Mentions
♥Seeing more of my best friend ♥ Hot Chocolate ♥ Bow Ties (eeek! Gossip Girl!) ♥A beautiful book from my boyfriend for doing well at my interview ♥ Pineapple on everything ♥Wii as a source of exercise :p♥ Adventures ♥Planning for the Future ♥ Snuggled up in my boyfriends chest whilst being on the brink of sleep.
What makes you happy?

Topshop London Fashion Week
This is an event I went to quite a while back in February but felt to comment upon it since finding this vid on Liebemarlene Vintage. Unfortunately I do not appear(!) but it goes to show the range of clothes everyday people wear, as well as how different aesthetics they choose to play up. I wish I had seen some of those people!

(The hair in the show was also very beautiful. Messy Beehives :))

"cute but always a little sick—that's my girl."
Geek Chic has been one of the biggest trends for spring. From raiding Grandmothers' closets, binging on second-hand delights, or the designer beauties of Luella's Ready to Wear collection, Spring 08; Its sure to say the eclectic look is here.
For me I have seen allot of this look creeping in over the past years, it is after all the look of allot of geeky artist. But nevertheless it doesn't delight me any less! The cute cartoon edge of comic book characters, with a mix of floral frills, and the sensibility of tailored blazers is a wearable combination that won't allow you to blend into the crowd as the layering and vintage elements only add clues to your own personality, and or hobbies. I dont go in for the lashings of hair colour in the fringe or large reading glasses seen in the show but each to their own!
